Happy Birthday Miss J

Little Miss J has been frequenting my blog a lot lately, her dance recital and now her birthday! This party was adorable which figures knowing her parents ;) It started with a Treasure Hunt lead by a real pirate that ended in the backyard with tons of treasure. Then cupcakes and presents. Tamara From Lemongrass Spa took some time to answer some questions for us so you can get a better idea about her and her business. 

1)What made you want to get into business with Lemongrass Spa?

Because of some schooling issues with our daughter, our family was in the process of making some changes and I was looking for a fun part-time business that fit my personality as well as one that I could work in with my family, especially my daughter, who was 9 at the time. Having dealt with some health issues, it was also important that my product be completely safe for my customers to use on a daily basis. I had been introduced to Lemongrass Spa at a pampering spa night a couple of years before by a friend who is now a Director. This friend would keep me up to date every few months or so and when I was in this process of finding the right business to launch, what caught my interest in a different way was that the Sheer Minerals line was being launched. To me, that meant that not only can I help women take time to relax and spend time enjoying their friendships, but that they could also look beautiful with cosmetics that had a fresh, natural look, without even the Bismuth Oxychloride that many mineral cosmetics contain. After doing a bit more research, I jumped in. Actually, I should say we, since my daughter loved the idea as well and is my helper at almost all of my events. It has been a fantastic way for her to not only make some extra money, but also to work along side me in a business that is all about helping others take a break from their busy schedules.

2) What makes Lemongrass Spa different from other beauty party product lines? 
Lemongrass Spa is committed to using NO parabens or other harmful, toxic ingredients like phlathates, petroleum, mineral oil, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, "PEG", triclosan/triclocarban, formaldehyde, ammonia... Most of us do not even realize that many of these are in a majority of skin care products, cosmetics, cologne, soaps and shampoos, to name a few. While some companies may now be paying attention, I am proud to say that Lemongrass Spa has made safe products from the very beginning. One of the things I really appreciate is that while some labels list only what is considered active ingredients, our products list everything so a consumers knows 100% of what they are using. Another difference from some direct sales lines and a huge advantage to both my customers and me is that I don't keep anything in stock. This is important for 2 reasons... I don't buy ahead and have a lot invested before it is sold AND my customers receive their product at its freshest. 

3) What makes you the happiest about being in business with Lemongrass Spa?
Being able to build and work a business with my daughter that is based on pampering others makes me so happy. Using all the products is, of course, a major benefit, since it saves me money when I support my own business.  I still remember opening my new consultant kit. It was like Christmas! Also, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that Lemongrass Spa keeps updating and creating more of what both our customers and their consultants ask for. This includes everything from more products, like Organic Mascara (one of newer products) to updated containers. I love that attention is give to even the small details, like using cornstarch packing peanuts that can be washed down the drain. It is great to work with a debt-free company that gives consultants lucrative commissions/bonuses and options for part-time or a full-time career. 

4) If you had to pick 3 products from Lemongrass spa that you cannot live without, what would they be? 
I love & use all of Lemongrass Spa products, but my absolute "can't miss a day without" picks
are the Sheer Minerals, Body Polish & Healing Elements Balm. I sort of "cheated" with the Sheer Minerals as a choice but it would be hard to do my face with just one eye color... I absolutely LOVE the difference it has made for me. I use different scents of Body Polish in my shower daily depending on my mood and time of year. Currently, I have the Mango scent! I love the close shave it helps me have and there are many days I don't even use lotion, since it leaves such a wonderful moisture on my skin. My 3rd choice of the Healing Elements Balm is hard to define what I don't use it for. It is wonderful for every member of my family! I love using in on my sensitive skin or wherever there is a sore or rash. I even use it on my face at night, when I want an extra treat. Love it!

5) How long has Lemongrass been in business?
Lemongrass Spa was started by Heidi Leist, along with her husband Bryan almost 10 years ago. The Lemongrass Spa Home Office is in Pine, Colorado.... in our own beautiful Rocky Mountains. Because of the 10 year Anniversary coming up, we are even more excited for new products to be released in August at our We Love 2 Spa Convention.

My Life {Brody}

Brody with my favorite childhood toy "little bear" - I have had him for 30 years and Brod just loves him. 

Fridays I am going to share a little bit about me and my life. This is Brody. If you follow my photography you probably already know who he is. This little man is the light of my life. My husband and I are amazed about how bright, caring, and funny he is. He says things that blow my mind and tells incredible stories. 

He loves Thomas the Train,

Cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, ATV's - basically anything with a motor. 

His favorite foods are cucumbers, nuts, berries, ice cream, cereal, and skittles!

His favorite song is Hot Chelle Rae: Tonight Tonight and Thomas. 

He loves to build sand castles and play with the water table. 

He turns 3 in 2 weeks and he can't be more excited about it. 

I love him so much and am glad I get to share the things I love about him with others!

What's for lunch Wednesdays!

    Hummus and Balsamic Vinaigrette Veggie Wraps 

So, us Griesemers are changing our ways. Actually we have been changing them for some time now, but I just added What's for lunch Wednesdays to my blog so I thought an explanation was in order. In short - we have virtually given up all meat and dairy products and it has worked wonders for our health, energy, and weight! (I still love a good grilled chicken every now and then, but Corey has totally stopped eating any meat.) Everyone asks, isn't it hard to give it up and our answer: when food tastes this good and is so good for you - No!

Here is the Hummus Recipe:
1 can of Chick Peas
1 tbsp of soy sauce
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp  Veggie Broth
Lemon Juice to taste
Blend in food processor (I use the magic bullet) Add more veggie broth to get the desired consistency.

Then we spread the hummus on the wrap and add all the veggies we want. Today was green, red, and yellow peppers, spinach, sweet onions, and tomatoes. And drizzle with a balsamic vinaigrette. The bread/wrap we use is Joseph's Flax Oat Bran & Whole Wheat Lavash Bread and it so yummy!!! Try it, You'll love it!

I spent the day Saturday celebrating the ballet recital of little miss "J" in the Turning Pointe 2012 Performance.
What an adorable little lady J is and so sweet as well. Spending time with her and her family always is a wonderful day full of laughter, fun, and friendship. Wonderful job today to all the tiny dancers!
